Join us for a 2-day workshop hosted by ceramic artist Emilie Grace Lavoie, whose artwork will also be featured in AX’s upcoming exhibition, As Time Goes By — Avec le temps.

In the first class, Lavoie will teach you the fundamentals of ceramic sculpture hand-building. Through the primary use of the slab roll technique, you will create an object or a wall piece. After building the form, you will then embellish it by creating various accumulations and textures inspired by natural elements. Once you have completed these steps, your creation will be fired in the AX kiln.

Two weeks later, after the firing, you will return to AX to complete your artwork. In this session, you’ll learn about glazing and will also have the chance to experiment with various finishes, colours and effects.

During this workshop, Emilie Grace Lavoie will take you on a tour through the AX Gallery to discuss her artwork featured in the exhibition, As Time Goes By — Avec le temps. This will be a great opportunity to hear directly from the artist as she explains her processes, challenges, and inspirations.
