Peter has dedicated his life to his artistic pursuits. His inventiveness with material and form has earned him an array of accolades and a reputation as one of Canada’s most accomplished and prominent visual artists.

On Sunday, June 4 AX hosted an artist and curator conversation with Peter Powning and John Leroux.

About the Artist

Since 1970, Peter Powning has lived and worked as an artist in the hills of southern New Brunswick. His life is characterized by intense periods of work preparing for exhibitions and commissions, punctuated by periodic travel. While Powning’s award-winning work is shown internationally, it is imbued with qualities distilled from a life lived close to the silence, space and seasonal rhythms of his home, the fields, forests and shorelines of Canada’s east coast.

This exhibition is supported by Canada Healthy Communities Initiative which is funded by the Government of Canada. Thanks to the New Brunswick Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture for its support of this project.

Peter Powning  and AX would like to thank Beaverbrook  Art Gallery for support of this exhibition.
