Eco Printing ~ Renata Britez
July 25 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Cost: $155 (inc. materials)
Location: In person, AX Workshop Room
Get to know the colourful bounty of Maritimes flora by working with fresh plants foraged by Natural Dyer Renata Britez. Natural dyeing can be fun, and the experience of using seasonal and regionally-relevant plants, as opposed to pre-extracted and imported powders, provides a real connection to this age-old process. In this one-day workshop, you’ll learn about natural dyes and those that can be sourced locally, types of mordant (dye fixative) for cellulose fibres and protein fibres, and eco printing techniques in silk and cotton.
Sunday July 25:
Participants will create their own silk scarf eco-printed with local leaves. Throughout the class, participants will learn about natural dyeing with fresh, raw dye, and how the process works with various fabrics and materials. This workshop is open to all levels of experience, and please note that there will be a 30 minute lunch break (lunch is not provided).
Please register by July 18. Spaces are going to fill up quickly!
