In this beginner-friendly, hands-on ceramics workshop, participants will design and handbuild their own holiday tealight holder, creating a unique, handcrafted piece to brighten the season. You’ll have the option to personalize your creations with colourful underglazes or opt for an all-over glaze for a more classic finish, making each piece entirely your own. Pieces will need time to dry before they are fired, and will be ready to pick up before Christmas!
Whether you’re creating a thoughtful, handmade gift for someone special or a charming addition to your holiday tablescape, these festive tealight holders are sure to bring a little extra warmth to the season. Come get creative, embrace the spirit of the holidays, and enjoy an evening of making at AX!
About the Instructor
Based in Sussex, New Brunswick, Heather Peacock is a self-taught flameworked glass artist and a pioneer of fine art flameworking in Atlantic Canada. Originally from Toronto and London, Ontario, she has been working full-time in borosilicate glass since 2013, developing a distinctive style that blends technical precision with organic, nature-inspired forms.
Heather’s intricate glass sculptures are inspired by the natural world—its textures, rhythms, and delicate balance. Using a propane-oxygen torch, she melts and shapes borosilicate glass, a material known for its clarity and durability, transforming it into works that evoke flora, fauna, and other natural forms. Each piece is meticulously crafted, inviting viewers to explore the subtleties of light, colour, and structure within the glass.
Her work encourages reflection on the fragility of nature and humanity’s connection to it, offering moments of quiet contemplation and wonder. Through her art, Heather seeks to immerse viewers in the beauty and intricacy of the natural world.
