Join us in the AX Workshop Room on February 26 from 6:00–8:30 PM for a cozy, hands-on evening of clay exploration at our Butter Bells Workshop. In this 3-hour workshop, each participant will create their own hand-built butter bell while learning slab-built construction, attachment methods, and a variety of handle techniques to create a functional, one-of-a-kind piece for your kitchen.
Participants may choose to stick with a classic butter bell design or modify their piece into a covered jar, with or without a built-in spoon rest. This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some clay experience and is a perfect opportunity to slow down, get creative, and make something both beautiful and useful by hand.
About the Instructor
Jen Pilon is a ceramic artist and educator originally from Halifax, now based in Riverside, New Brunswick. She began her artistic journey at NSCAD University in Nova Scotia, where she developed a passion for functional ceramics, later becoming the cornerstone of her creative practice.
Jen earned a Diploma in Fine Craft with a focus on Ceramics from the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design in 2014. This experience deepened her technical skills and solidified her commitment to the medium.
Understanding the therapeutic nature of clay, Jen has complemented her production business with teaching and developing ceramics programs, with a notable focus on the vulnerable sector and youth mentorship.
Now an active member of her creative community, she is working on her first installation project as part of Craft NB’s Beneath The Surface. Jen remains dedicated to expanding her artistic practice, seeking opportunities for education, exhibitions and professional development that reflect her passion for earthen materials and community engagement.
