Join us in the AX Gallery on February 14th for an unforgettable evening that combines fine dining with hands-on creativity. Valentine’s Day isn’t just for romance—it’s about celebrating love in all its forms! Bring a partner, a friend, or even your child, but keep in mind this experience is best enjoyed by those aged 13 and up.
Your night begins with a delicious three-course meal for two from Knocks Café, served in the beautiful AX Gallery. With multiple mouthwatering options to choose from, you’re guaranteed a meal you’ll love—and with gratuity included in your ticket, the only thing you need to focus on is enjoying the evening! *Please note that beverages are at an additional charge.*
After dinner, come upstairs to the AX Ceramics Centre for a ceramics workshop led by Artist-in-Residence Jen Pilon, where you and your partner will create your very own handmade charcuterie boards. Using handbuilding techniques, ceramic transfers, and underglazes, you’ll craft a unique and professional-looking piece to cherish. Since your boards will need to be fired in our kilns, they’ll be available for pickup at a later date.

Workshop Description
In this intimate and welcoming setting, you’ll have the opportunity to create your very own handmade charcuterie board, perfect for serving up delicious spreads at future gatherings. AX Artist-in-Residence, Jen Pilon will guide you through the process, teaching handbuilding techniques and showing you how to use ceramic transfers and underglazes to add beautiful, personal touches to your piece. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a complete beginner, this workshop is designed to be fun, relaxing, and rewarding. Your finished board will be carefully fired in our kilns, ensuring a durable and professional-quality result, ready for pickup at a later date. This is more than just a class—it’s a chance to connect, create, and take home a lasting memento of a special evening.
About the Instructor
Jen Pilon is a ceramic artist and educator originally from Halifax, now based in Riverside, New Brunswick. She began her artistic journey at NSCAD University in Nova Scotia, where she developed a passion for functional ceramics, later becoming the cornerstone of her creative practice.
Jen earned a Diploma in Fine Craft with a focus on Ceramics from the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design in 2014. This experience deepened her technical skills and solidified her commitment to the medium.
Understanding the therapeutic nature of clay, Jen has complemented her production business with teaching and developing ceramics programs, with a notable focus on the vulnerable sector and youth mentorship.
Now an active member of her creative community, she is working on her first installation project as part of Craft NB’s Beneath The Surface. Jen remains dedicated to expanding her artistic practice, seeking opportunities for education, exhibitions and professional development that reflect her passion for earthen materials and community engagement.
