Join Ann Filmore in the AX Workshop Room on June 27 from 1–4pm for an elegant and hands-on Pearl Knotting Workshop that blends craftsmanship, creativity, and timeless style.

Learn the traditional art of pearl knotting while creating a beautifully hand-strung necklace of your own. Participants are invited to bring cherished pearls from home to be restrung and given new life, or purchase fresh pearls on site to design a future family heirloom from scratch. Whether you’re restoring a sentimental piece or starting a new tradition, this workshop offers a rare opportunity to create something truly meaningful by hand.

Ann will guide participants through the knotting process step-by-step, sharing techniques for creating professionally finished strands that are both beautiful and durable. The workshop fee includes all instruction and necessary materials aside from pearls, making it easy to customize your piece to your own style and story.

Perfect for beginners and jewellery lovers alike, this is a thoughtful, tactile experience centered around slow craft and timeless design.

About the Instructor

Born in Bathurst, Ann has called the Fredericton / Grand Lake area home since 1985.  Her studio is in Flowers Cove on Grand Lake. After a 30+ year science based career with the Federal Government, she retired and enrolled in the jewelry / metal arts program at NBCCD Fredericton. She has also participated in a number of lapidary workshops.

A fusion of Celtic and south-west best describes her jewelry style. She is influenced by the works of her ancestors, specifically the Vikings and Celts, as well as the style of the Native Americans of the US south west.  She incorporates historical techniques such as viking weave and chainmail when making jewelry. Various hammers and files are used to create texture on metal.

Ann likes to incorporate non conventionally shaped stones into her jewelry.  Her favourite stone is turquoise but she collects rocks and stones wherever she travels.  To her, it is amazing to reveal the inner secrets and beauty of a stone during the process of cutting and polishing.

Ann has been juried by Craft NB. Pieces of Ann’s work can be found at Gallery 78 and Gallery on Queen in Fredericton and Handworks Gallery in Saint John. Ann also enjoys working one on one with clients to create unique personalized pieces of jewelry.
