About the Workshop
Come and learn to make your own custom stone mosaic, designed to work in our tough Canadian climate!
In one day, you will learn about mosaic materials and tools. You will design your one-of-a-kind concrete stone mosaic, designed for stepping on . You will have ample opportunity to handle mosaic cutting tools, learn about mosaic bases and adhesives. We will have hands-on demos and lots of supervised workshop time. Participants have the option to create an additional mosaic made on a local cobble.
All tools, substrates, adhesives and mosaic material provided, however we encourage you to bring any personal materials (stones, glass, porcelain, jewelry, or crockery). A wide range of materials will be on hand for you to create a plaque uniquely your own. Most of the day will be spent cutting, shaping and adhering the mosaic pieces to your plaque. Most will have a completed plaque by the end of the day, and everyone will have the knowledge to make their own in the future.
What to bring:
Apron, a few recycled yogurt containers
About the Artist
Carole Lulham has practiced contemporary mosaic art for twenty years. She has taught students aged 6 to 80+. She works in glass, natural stone from New Brunswick, and repurposed items. As a professional horticulturist, she enjoys combining mosaics with garden art. Her classes run from one day and weekend workshops, to week-long art camps. In all cases, she encourages individual creativity as much as technique, so no two student pieces are the same. Carole has received extensive mosaic training nationally and internationally, including Mosaic Master from Scuolo Orsono in Venice. She is a certified Adult Educator and teaches in French and English.
